Your Impact
Reporting to the Senior Director of Individual Giving, the Donor Services Specialist position is the foundation of the Humanity Greater San Francisco’s Fund Development team. It is critical that this candidate possess a solid understanding of non-profit development, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and brings enthusiasm to a dynamic Donor Experience team. This role will provide a skill in database management and analysis, and perform supporting responsibilities like gift processing and mailing list generation, and be able to interact professionally with all types of supporters. In addition, the Donor Services Specialist partners closely with the Fund Development team and Finance & Operations teams to support database integrity and strategy.

This position supports Habitat GSF’s efforts to ensure our donors receive best-in-class stewardship, inspiring prospects and donors to donate, while also promptly thanking donors for their impact.

Primary Responsibilities
Database Administration (50%)
  • Ensure the integrity of and accurate input/output of all constituent information.
  • Enter all donor-related data into Salesforce, including processing donations and ensuring accurate donor records.
  • Extract and produce fundraising related reports for the department to support growth of annual fundraising.
  • Lead weekly reconciliation of gifts with Development Manager.
  • Support monthly reconciliation of donations with Finance Department on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Create reports and run monthly new donor information through prospecting tool iWave; partner with Fund Development colleagues to develop strategies to cultivate and steward donors in response to screening data.
  • Partner with Database Operations team to consistently provide suggestions for improvements to Salesforce database that will enable enhanced donor engagement, tracking and fixing data entry errors that impact Fund Development.

Donor Services (35%)
  • Draft and produce thoughtful and accurate acknowledgement letters for all donations within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Receive and respond to requests from donors including collecting donation information, tax identification numbers, etc.
  • Support Fund Development donor events and prospects by attending events, helping with RSVP tracking, and logging gifts.
  • Support the rest of the Fund Development team, investing in the success of the whole team.

Prospect research (10%)
  • Support fundraising by completing donor research and creating donor prospecting briefs.
  • Engage with existing donor base…

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
  • Perform additional appropriate duties as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years minimum of experience in fundraising.
  • Experience with a Donor CRM database or willingness to learn Salesforce and other donation processing and prospecting systems.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage an unpredictable workflow and possess the flexibility to respond thoughtfully and quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively.
  • Must be able to pass background check

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position may begin as remote work and will transition to in-person/in-office work as permitted by the CDC and San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and stand or bend as necessary. Must be able to travel within HGSF’s service area.

Compensation for this role is competitive, DOE. This full-time position offers medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, employee assistance program (EAP), Flex Savings Account (FSA), 403(b) retirement account, commuter benefits, 20 paid vacation days, three sick days, and 12 paid holidays.
